So much going on!

We all know with the advanced technology, it is hard to get students to follow along with the lesson being taught. Students have phones and computers with internet where there is so much going on! Students can check their email and Facebook instead of listening to the teacher. They can even shop online! How can teachers implement technology in their classroom and still make sure the students are doing the lesson?

  1. As with all items that interrupt a classroom they need to be dealt with. With each set of problems that come up in the class new rules need to be put in place and enforced.

  2. I have seen classrooms with mirrors in the back so teachers can see what the students are doing on their computers. Also you can set some ground rules. In Joyce's class I think we had an atmosphere of respect and that stopped students from just doing whatever.

  3. There is software that would allow you as a teacher to view everything studetns are doing on school computers, but I think as always, if you have relevant content most of the students will be following along with you.

  4. I agree with the other comments. It is important to use technology in the classroom; therefore, rules will need to be implemented to set guidelines for your expectations as a teacher. As Jack said, if your content is relevant and exciting the students should be engaged enough to follow along.

  5. I agree with all of the above. I think using tech in the classroom is going to change the way teachers have to set up lessons. We have ro be on top of it!

  6. I like Caralee's idea about mirrors. I also think that using technology in the class needs to be closely monitored and if you catch them doing something when they shouldn't be, perhaps a consequence is making them do research the hard way, in the library!
